This is a dupe of the much more informative Atlantic[0] submission[1]

She wrote the article (maybe this is what you're saying); I think she's just promoting the piece on Twitter. Disclaimer: big Jerusalem Demsas fan.
Well sure, but per the HN guidelines "Please submit the original source. If a post reports on something found on another site, submit the latter." (Which she states in her twitter feed)
Comments moved thither. Thanks!
A public comment opposing policies that would lead to more affordable housing isn’t “gossip” or “conjecture.”
Mostly he is opposed to anything that could possibly impact his financial position in any way. Multi-family housing in the town where he lives will likely depress his property value a little bit.

The wealthy towns surrounding my blue collar town have always shifted their affordable housing requirements by sending funds to other towns to meet those commitments, until the state closed that little loophole. They screamed bloody murder about having a timeline to provide affordable housing within their town limits.

That is how it goes with the wealthy. They want affordable housing, so that their underpaid workers and underpaid help have a place to live, but not in their town. I have watched this all around me for the last thirty years.

I have a good job, and I cannot afford the housing in any of the three towns that immediately abut our town. I have no idea where all the money comes from.
