I clicked on that and what they had to say confirmed my suspicions, and I stayed away.
Faucets for new crypto tokens are one thing. I would suspect any faucet now days for established chains (e.g., Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc.).
You're right. I tested it once and it did work, but makes no sense to include faucets for major coins anyway since they're so prone to abuse. Going to remove it altogether
