Ask HN: Good graduate-level hard science magazines available in physical form?

Some years ago I discovered Quanta magazine thanks to HN, which gave me a good dose of high-quality math and science articles that are neither too tense to be understandable by someone who doesn't have a strong background in a particular topic nor too simple to feel too general and false. Unfortunately, outside a couple of collections of old articles the magazine is only available online.

I'm looking to subscribe to a print science magazine with ~weekly editions that I can read offline without risking an accidental detour on Reddit. Can anybody recommend one?

Probably Nature or Science, though they're journals, not magazines.

If I recall correctly Scientific American used to be like what you're asking for in that it published articles written by practicing scientists aimed at the educated general public, but I think it long ago abandoned that model.

If the only reason you don't want to be online is to avoid distractions why not install some software that lets you block access to certain web sites ?

It's not just distractions: reading from a screen tires me down, and I prefer relaxing while reading some paper.

A Kindle works well for this use case, but it's slightly uncomfortable to use.

I enjoy reading Nautilus, although I wouldn’t say it is heavy on math. It does come in print form.
