Ask HN: Did Google Kill Support of Chromecast Audio?

I know they discontinued selling new versions of Chromecast Audio in 2019, but now I'm unavailable to cast to my Bose speakers or add them to a Speaker Group. Was there an official announcement?

Google has been crippling products to avoid Sonos patents. I believe that speaker groups are one of the affected features.

If you can't get it working, you could try a regular Chromecast combined with an HDMI audio extractor.

I can do a speaker group with all Google devices such as my Google Hub, Minis, and Max. Even my Chromecast video is available to add to a group. My three Google Chromecast audios are not available for casting.
