Is this appropriate for a 10 year old?

Yes the tutorials are intended to be accessible to a complete novice.

I recommend some help from someone with a little experience for the 1st tutorial that discusses installing all the prerequisites. But the rest should be OK for children from around 10 years (I've tested it on my 9 year old)
