With the prevailing westerly winds most of the radio-active dust, debris and fallout would travel across hundreds or even thousands of miles of Russia.
Well there is stupidity (which in itself is quite unbeatable force) and then there is not giving a fuck. Both are in ample supplies in that country.
But stupidity has other side of the coin as well, maybe too stupid to create an effective bomb out of those reactors. They are containment type reactors so you need a very big bang in the right place to damage them. Very different from chernobyl.
Also, as we are talking about this, I personally think it is an effective psyops designed to terrorize and black mail. Tho again they very well may be that stupid.
