... because it's better to be spied on and propagandized by your own government as opposed to a foreign one?

this is correct, when you think about it, it is much better for the citizen to be spied upon by a foreign state rather than the domestic one - we are in much greater danger from our own governments, than we ever are from 'the great other'

How is banning something we don’t like compatible with the concept of free speech? If we ban TikTok, we’re not better than the CCP.
