I've been thinking of switching to GrapheneOS for a while. This might be the last push I need.
I've been testing GOS on a Pixel 5a along side my iPhone. It works fantastically. Highly recommended.
Jeez, I recommend iOS to family because of the fewer advertisements.

This hurts.

It must be the law of internet or something ... "everything online eventually devolves to ads" :/
This is what we get when we give control to economists and sales people.
Why am I paying for Apple One then? Time to cancel that and switch my hardware as well. I bought into the Apple ecosystem big time because of the simplicity and cleanliness of the experience. Not interested in paid services showing ads so that Apple can make even more money that they won’t really care to innovate with.

This is deeply disappointing and even sickening.

In other words, their privacy moves weren’t to guard your data for you, but to guard their data of you for them.
This is the obvious conclusion to draw. I think it's a very real question whether what they get from going deep on ads will make up for the hit to their feel-good "we care about your privacy" reputation they've spent so much time cultivating (and, honestly, the renewed focus on whether they really do have too much market power).
