I already struggle to use Google Maps because it seems more and more crowded. I'm traveling right now and when I zoom in to the neighborhood I'm staying all I see is a plethora of hotels and their rates for the night, and one mistake tap instead of a scroll/drag and the screen is now taken over by options to book for various dates etc.
Also a bit fanboi of me but I find Apple Maps more aesthetically pleasing when driving (CarPlay).
> "The effort to add search ads to Apple Maps has already been explored internally. Such a feature would probably work similarly to search ads in the App Store. For instance, a Japanese restaurant could pay money to rank at the top of local listings when users searched for “sushi.”"
The author argues it's about search results, not placement on the map. But the author also doesn't seem to have any sources.
