I can only imagine that the way the scientific community is reacting to this is similar to back when Copernicus concluded that the solar system is centered about the Sun, not the Earth. It's really really hard to shake your preconceived notions in the face of contradictory evidence.
That extraordinary claim would require extraordinary evidence
... which the JST may provide eventually.
But that wouldn't entirely suprise me as inflation, dark matter and dark energy, have always seemed to me to be a confession that we don't understand how space and time work. They can't really be proven wrong (until now) because they were tailored to fit observations and did a decent job, but it's very exciting if we finally find unexplained phenomena and we need to go back to the drawing board.
This article however, is of very poor scientific quality, and is mostly clickbait, so I would contain my excitement for now.

It's cool that JWST is providing interesting data though, eventually this will shake out into some great improvements in cosmology and maybe physics.
For now this type of article seems like it just wants a clickable headline though.
