To me, his point rests on the problem of history when you have only small numbers of sources, written from outsider perspectives, with their own agenda.
As if the only history of the Spanish Amarda was written by chinese Anglophiles.

Yeah, I've just come to terms with the fact that a meaningful (though not overwhelming) portion of my weekend will be spent reading whatever the pedant published that Friday. I wouldn't ask for less of it!

He cuts the pieces into 2 (sorry ii) or iii pieces often. But even then, they are several scrolls long. More than a simple scribe can read quickly.
