Ask HN: Can a marketing employee work remotely?

Our startup Grosper.com is looking for a head of marketing. We are a small team of 5 people, and would like to hear someone for marketing full time. His marketing would be geared towards user acquisition. I was wondering whether it is a good idea to hire a marketing candidate who might be an ideal choice but may live in another country. Is working remotely in the marketing function feasible?
