They only focus on unreal and unity, but there are other closed source 3D engines out there which can reach AAA class (horizon engine, square enix lum-something, valve source[12], etc)... Since I am an elf/linux user, I would prefer to see godot (with a mature vulkan backend). From my perspective, godot is far from being technically "good", but at least it is open source, so it is a "less worse" alternative. Additionnaly, godot are well aware of the ABI issues elf/linux OSes because of the c++ static runtime and glibc manic symbol versioning and do propose mitigations (they cannot afford to go proper full libdl because they would need to fork the gcc static libstdc++ and third party libs to "libdl"-ized them, this is too much for them).
