Company: Y Combinator company is hiring systems engineers, support engineers, and developer evangelists. (full-time, part-time or intern) Location: SF Bay Area

Technology: The core focus of our enterprise-grade technology is to enable real-time bidirectional communication between Internet-connected devices and servers in a scalable and reliable way.

Enterprises currently run on aging software built with decade-old technology that lacks innovation. We get to start from scratch, building cutting-edge tech on new platforms. We use everything from C++ to Node.js and Erlang, and write native evented communications libraries for a variety of backends including Python, Java, Node, and Ruby.

Team: Founded in 2010, we've recruited brilliant engineers to work with us, with backgrounds building scalable systems at a variety of companies ranging from Amazon to Dropbox. This isn't your average startup.

Use of our technology: Our real-time Internet infrastructure can easily handle millions of concurrent users in a variety of applications including logistics, gaming, ecommerce, communications, event processing, and more! Our technology can enable you to build an iPhone app that visually displays a fleet of Fedex trucks in couple hundred lines of code. Or, we can enable you to build a MMO video game facing millions of gamers on the web, desktop, and mobile devices.

Funding: Haven't disclosed. Raised a large seed round from Silicon Valley's best VCs, angels, and funds, including Y Combinator. Raising a large Series A to grow the team.

Customers: Thousands of startups and projects are using our technology. We're working on large paying customers, ranging from media giants, communications companies, universities. Our target verticals include logistics (fleet management, supply chain systems), gaming (especially MMO-scale on mobile), and chat/messaging. We will eventually have offerings for e-commerce, government, healthcare, and finance.

Partners: Our Partners are publicly traded multi-billion-dollar companies.

You: You get to be an early employee at a hot startup solving very challenging distributed systems problems. Our benefits package follows a "You Get Whatever You Want" policy. We're looking for smart engineers interested in solving systems engineering problems.

Requirements:

  M.S. or PhD in Systems Engineering, or similar preferred
  Extensive background designing and implementing scalable systems
  Experience in C/C++, Java, Python, Erlang, JavaScript (Node.js).
  Good testing and debugging practices
  Implemented systems in production environment
  Previous startup experience is a plus.
