[ 4.7 ms ] story [ 426 ms ] threadAppear is on a mission to fix the broken product design process for rich AR experiences. We’re starting an ambitious journey to create next-generation tools to design experiences for the metaverse. Our vision is to free the curiosity of designers from limitations of other platforms and static 2D frames and ultimately enable a design process that produces high quality and engaging XR experiences.
We are looking for a founding engineer that will grow the core product and assemble one of the main technical teams. Someone that is interested in prototyping as well as setting up a strong technical foundation.
As a founding engineer your expertise will be invaluable in shaping both the technology and experience of the tools we are developing.
In-depth understanding of Unity internals and examples of past XR experience are the key technical requirements. Unity’s flavor of C# will be the main programming language. Some examples of technical challenges that will be tackled are: a coherent user interface foundation, 3D environment simulation and logic systems.

Flying Circus is a German service provider doing “DevOps as a Service” for software developers and application owners. We take over the responsibility of technical operations and are a day-to-day partner to create and maintain business critical custom applications. Based on our real-life experience of simple and complex projects we provide a NixOS-based hosting platform with a flat-fee pricing model that makes operations a predictable and sustainable cost.
We are looking to grow our application operations and platform & infrastructure teams. We offer various junior/senior positions and students are also welcome!
Please note that we require German as a professional (not necessarily first) language, so here are our job offers and a description of the hiring process in German:
https://flyingcircus.io/de/careers
We use a lot of Open Source, contribute and also publish our own platform code: https://github.com/flyingcircusio/fc-nixos
Tech: NixOS, Python, Ceph, QEMU, our own data center hardware, Grafana, Prometheus, PostgreSQL, Redis, Varnish, nginx, HAProxy, ...
Our mission is to help organizations build trust and stay secure but we are not just building incredible products, we are focused on building a great culture. A collaborative environment full of passionate people and meaningful benefits— this is a place for you to thrive and do your best work.
We are hiring for:
* Sr. Full Stack Engineer, Product Manager, Sr. Designer, Sr. Product Marketing Manager, Sr. Digital Marketing Manager, and more to work on the Secureframe product, which is built with Ruby on Rails and React.js
Our team is 100% remote across North America and the United Kingdom and all current openings are listed here (https://secureframe.com/careers)
We're a VC-funded startup building an automation platform for Infrastructure-as-Code, adding a Policy-as-Code layer above it, in order to make IaC usable in bigger companies, where you have to take care of state consistency, selective permissions, a usable git flow, etc.
On the backend we're using 100% Go with AWS primitives. We're looking for backend developers who like doing DevOps'y stuff sometimes (because in a way it's the spirit of our company), or have experience with the cloud native ecosystem. Ideally you'd have experience working with an IaC tool, i.e. Terraform, Pulumi, Ansible, CloudFormation, Kubernetes, or SaltStack.
Overall we have a deeply technical product, trying to build something customers love to use, and already have a lot of happy and satisfied customers.
We promise interesting work, the ability to open source parts of the project which don't give us a business advantage, as well as healthy working hours. We've also got investment days on Fridays, when you can work on anything you want, as long as it could possibly benefit Spacelift in some way.
If that sounds like fun to you, please apply at https://grnh.se/3138190b5us
You can find out more about the product we're building at https://spacelift.io and also see our engineering blog for a few technical blog posts of ours: https://spacelift.io/blog/engineering
PS: Fear not, no whiteboarding!
We simplify industrial IoT by helping manufacturers realize real returns within their organizations by enabling them to digitize and drive decisions with machine data. We get to solve really interesting problems everyday as a result of interfacing directly with machines on a large scale - here are some of the technologies we use: Node.js, GraphQL, TimescaleDB, React, C#, C++, Terraform, Docker, and Kubernetes
It’s an exciting time to be here - we just raised a $20m series B (!) and are looking to grow our team with the following roles:
* Full Stack Engineer - https://grnh.se/5259c89e2us
You can apply directly above (don't forget to mention HN / Scott in your application), or reach out to me directly at scott [dot] demeo [at] machinemetrics [dot] com (please include HN in the subject line!) - no recruiters or agencies, please.

Gro Intelligence is building a platform that harnesses human expertise and machine learning as it assists users attempting to address two of the most pressing challenges facing humanity today: climate change and food security. At Gro, we illuminate the correlations between the Earth's ecology and our economy in ways that reveal the big picture and that help people act on the small details, and we are always on the lookout for people who can help us achieve our goals.
Fundamentally, Gro is a big data platform. Deep domain knowledge and machine learning power all of our applications and underlying analytical engines; scalable collaboration defines our engineering culture. We are a rapidly growing Series B ($85M - January 2021) company that provides our engineers with the opportunities and resources that they need to thrive.
We are looking for strong full-stack engineers - it’ll be a big plus if you’ve worked on the frontend of a full-stack data-intensive web application, but there is also work to be done on the backend & API. Strong knowledge of Javascript, React (or other similar frontend frameworks) and Python will likely mean you’re a great candidate for this role. Apply here: https://grnh.se/752afd284us
In addition, our technical infrastructure group needs engineers who are passionate about building and scaling systems (think decomposing monoliths, CI/CD, scaling data pipelines from petabytes to exabytes) and who have at least one area of deep understanding in software engineering fundamentals. Our current code base is primarily Python, but we will be transitioning our foundational layers to Rust. We welcome Java, C and C++ programmers - particularly those who are looking to transition to Rust. Apply here: https://grnh.se/24ac6dbd4us
You can see all of our open roles here:https://boards.greenhouse.io/gro?t=63175dfe4us
As a Gro engineer, you will build out systems aimed at providing the world with the most relevant, accurate, and actionable information on climate and agriculture. If you love a good challenge, have deep expertise, and a desire to make a positive impact - or just have more questions about what we do or what opportunities are available - please don't hesitate to reach out to us at jobs@gro-intelligence.com and you can find out more about engineering life at Gro here: https://gro-intelligence.com/engineering-at-gro
But, as someone once said: "I have made it my business to understand your business". A quote that I follow when I'm looking at companies that seem interesting.
So here we go: I can't quite figure out how your business work: Clients pay you so that you can provide them with data about various climate related events. But how do you collect those datapoints to feed your models? For example, do you have actual sensors in the field to measure the land suitability index https://gro-intelligence.com/applications/land-suitability-r..., do you have some sensor in the field, your do you aggregate data that you buy from the government or other sources?
Also, how exactly do you address climate change? It seems more like you are measuring climate change (and its impact) rather than addressing it directly.
Lastly, this post will serve to check whether you are actually engaged with this position and responsive or have just dropped it to farm CVs ;) (I do very much hope you are genuine about this, seeing that you also have posted on Hacker News in August)
You may have heard of us before, either by reputation or in the news lately. We're a fully automated trading firm (HFT) that prides itself on feeling like a tech company. It's been a good year, and we're looking to expand broadly.
