It appears that IMDB is hiding or deleting reviews under 5/10 for Amazon's new "Lord of the Rings" series. Several people are reporting their own reviews have now disappeared as well...
For those who don't know, it should be mentioned that Amazon owns IMDb.
That said, removing 1-star reviews is not uncommon for shows that may get review-bombed. Metacritic and Rottentomatoes have both had to deal with it for movies/shows with... "zealous"... fans.
Just to continue the discussion. I personally see no problem deleting 1-star "review-bombed" reviews. But to remove 4-star reviews (and others) as well? It seems very odd...
It's a tricky one. If you buy a broom and it is a good broom you will give it a review of 10. But where you are expressing a personal preference, shouldn't 10 be reserved for the best thing you have every seen? And 1 for the worst (of course there is never a zero). Then your votes would average out at 5. But folks are never going to get that idea, which is why these sites will never work.
