Ask HN: Any companies doing contract to hire?

I’m in my first major job search in 15 years and it’s become exhausting. Doing essentially similar exercises and answering the same endless questions is really grinding me down. Is anyone out there doing contract-to-hire in lieu of the full interview battery? Or some other way? I can’t be the only one experiencing this.
