Contact Lenses Could Soon Replace Our Phone Screens (bloomberg.com)

A lot of people cannot wear contact lenses because of myriad eye related issues. Although cool, I don't see this technology soaring anytime soon. Maybe as a proof of concept, until biocompatible electronics become mainstream.

The movie the Matrix would be more realistic if the interface between man and machine were the eye sockets instead of the base of the brain stem due to the bandwidth of the optic nerve. But that probably would have been too creepy for the box office.

Imagine if they started oscillating between two colors at high speed, or suddenly displayed some kind of shock image.

Oh yes, "soon" my magical micro battery tech will be commercialized and small enough to fit under an eyelid with enough energy density power itself for a day. Did I mention they are transparent?
