That means if you use PagerDuty for on-call, you can use us to calculate exactly what people are owed. No more hacky scripts, awkward pay delays, or frustrating errors.
I've spent my entire career on-call for production services, and been lucky enough that all those shifts have been paid. It may seem a small thing, but paying for the time helps being on-call feel less like a personal sacrifice, and swapping shifts more equitable.
The belief that healthy on-call culture includes paying people for on-call is why we've opened this up: we hope making it easier to pay will mean more companies do so, and bring our industry closer to adopting this as standard practice.
