Can anyone confirm this is actually correct?

I'm in groups where you can see that people have left (a message shows '[a phone number or the contact if they are in your addressbook] left). Not sure if this is a setting that can be toggled. Likewise if an admin removes someone you can see that too.
For group:

Maybe consider Signal if you do not want your content exposed.

Or Telegram if you don’t mind your text content being accessible by Telegram and prefer to be a bit more anonymous.

Can’t win there on both counts.
