End software patents in the US and just watch how the economy boosts up.
Exactly. Software patents are idiocy of the worst kind. I wonder what has to happen for US to throw them out of their legal system.

The article gives several examples, including a lawsuit against GNOME Foundation.

It also links to a study that backs up the figures in the title:
