Ask HN: How common are wireless devices without an FCC ID

Got some fans on prime day and I decided I'd like to control them with an SDR. I went to look up the FCC ID to get the frequency and realized there were no markings on the remote inside or out. Even the microcontroller has no markings at all. After looking for it with the SDR it was on 434Mhz (not 433). Is this normal now?
