I must have missed that R2 is now GA. I need to look into migrating from S3.
> As John Gilmore once famously said: "The Internet sees censorship as damage and routes around it."

Cloudflare is a big reason why this quote isn't true. They proxy "load testing" sites used to ddos people, and then restrict who can access services behind their ddos-resistant proxy. So even if you're VPNing around someone's censorship, in the best case your web browsing will be limited by your ability to solve captchas.

I can't deny that Cloudflare seems to be one of the companies that have a more positive impact on the internet than others.

But I am still reserved about using Cloudflare because of my concerns about how much cloudflare centralizes the internet, Cloudflare's Webserver currently controls 20% of the internet(1), which is absolutely huge for a single entity.

I think if Cloudflares aim is to really to protect the internet, it should at least offer another option to just use DDOS protection without a reverse proxy, a way to protect websites without proxying everything Cloudflare with the huge amount of trust that requires, for the same price as the proxying service.

Has anyone heard any news about cloudflare D1, their sqlite database offering? Have been itching to try it out but haven't heard anything new since May...
It’s definitely coming. News this week.
Awesome, thank you! Looking forward to it
This some R2Cringe2. Where was this emphasis on why censorship was bad when they capitulated to randos on twitter?
Yeah, nice principles, unfortunately a bogus threat is enough to make CF compromise them.
Don't worry, they only pathetically cave to activists like once per year, it's not so bad!
