This other discussion on the front page (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=32982513) remembered me of this video introducing Solomonoff Induction as an answer to the the philosophical question of "what is an explanation?" and and a precise break down of Occam's razor from a point of information/complexity theory and data compression.
