Feels like pretty good publicity for the Surface, which as of now is a very small player in the iPad dominant tablet market.
Seems like it would be but in my (limited) experience watching NFL games the announcers just call them iPads anyway. Then they or their co commentator corrects themselves with the sponsor friendly Brand Name.
this has large potential as a promo piece.

this device destruction also looks like a political statement of sorts similar to taking a knee, and if it is, enjoys protection as speech, i think fines could be met with suit

These are contractual issues between private companies. There is no protected speech legal issue.
a player breaking a device that is perceived as a detriment, is not a contractual issue between private companies

No that's not how it works. The league has a sponsorship contract with Microsoft. The league is allowed to "fine" member teams over a wide range of issues, including behavior that impacts corporate sponsors. Those aren't really fines in the legal sense, but are allowed under the agreement between the league and its teams.
I think players (and coaches) are breaking tablets because they are upset, not because they are trying to make a political statement.
Please post your home address so that I can respond to your comment by writing on a brick and throwing it through your window. Since that is speech, it must enjoy the same protection.
corner of haley n wolftrack, i can speak just as eloquently. please make sure the brick says surface pro on it, there should be a lot of those around.
Tampering with evidence (of indeterminate varieties) ?
