I'm right wing and listen to lots of right wing media. The current right is not against anyone's skin color.

They're concerned about two things, illegal immigration and a rise in left wing voters through illegal immigration.

They're all for legal immigrants.

> They're concerned about [...] a rise in left wing voters through illegal immigration.

What? First time I hear this tenuous excuse.

Assuming what you say is true, it's astonishing a party wants to make immigration stricter to avoid having more people voting for the other side. I thought parties should win by having better policies, not by reducing competition. But the latter is something the far right (often times disguised under another name) has historically always been fond of.

An easily gameable strategy is promising benefits to new citizens, whether or not it makes sense to give those benefits or take on new citizens. You encourage the influx, and make the vote choice obvious.

Is this happening? I don’t really know. Is it possible? Doesn’t seem to be much in the way of it in some states.

Readers should also not accept your frame: “reducing competition.” Not accepting arbitrary new citizens is not reducing competition; getting rid of people is reducing competition. The issue of how many, and which new people to accept, is a separate question.

It's astonishing a party wants to increase immigration to get more voters for its side. I thought parties should win by having better policies that win over existing voters, not by abandoning them and diluting them with new voters.
