Ask HN: How should I price membership to my trade association?

1 points by spgmang ↗ HN
I've recently launched a trade association for a certain niche. Membership provides a lot of value, such as a consultation, list of potential buyers\industry contacts, market research, and more.

How do I price this so it's accessible to many people yet profitable? Is there a formula of sorts that I can use?

Logarithmically $50/year for students and amateurs $500/year for certified professionals $5000/year for companies $50,000/year for corporations

The last example is assuming your niche is big enough to have a conference every year or two and one or two companies would want exclusive or headline sponsorship.

How many member has your association? Do you have some kind of elections?
