I still wish they'd not chosen a scientific word for their company name.

Here, it creates an undesirable double-entendre of semi-connectedness, for the conference. It diffuses the meaning.

"Facebook" of course isn't a masterpiece of word smithing, though it's not my job to fix their corporate naming.

For an event announcement page for their headliner product, I find it quite poor at making information available and looking high quality . At least on mobile.

The first “page” of the SPA just has a date and a countdown. Okay so what time does this actually start? What even is this event?

So you scroll down two “pages” till you get to a photo of Mark that has it overlayed. I assume times are always in PT (not PDT or PST) because of the headquarters, with no info for other time zones. Furthermore there’s no “add to calendar” call to action so I’m just going to forget it.

Lastly the photo of zuck…is not very flattering. I’m not ragging on his looks because that’s not the issue. But whomever took and edited the photo is not doing him any favours with the flat lighting and flat color grading used for all their photos. Carmacks photo is equally bad and has an even worse cutout effect.

It’s just a shame they clearly spent so much time and effort making this site “look good” but it falls so short on the things it should be doing: converting visitors to viewers, and making their hosts look their best

He's just one cloak and yellow eyes away from looking like Emperor Palpatine.
I'm so happy that I don't care at all about this.
Then why are you commenting here about it then? If you didn't care, you wouldn't comment here in the first place?

Sometimes HNers just make me laugh as they keep thinking about Meta in their heads rent-free.

A better title might be "Meta Connect 2022 – Virtual Event (if you are in USA, Canada, UK, Spain, or France)

Not very metaversy of them

Why would I want anything to do with Meta?
Available in US English only

Guess that is me out then.
