Ask HN: Hiring Dilemma
Is it good to hire a fresh undergraduate who doesn't have any professional experience, but finds you (your company) while looking for the work of his interest, or is it better to hire someone from job portal looking for a change with 1-2 years of experience?
I know it also depends on lots of other factors (e.g. technical & communication skills), but do you think it is worth to hire someone who is interested in your work and give them some time to learn?

[ 3.0 ms ] story [ 16.6 ms ] threadin my experience, its very difficult to correct certain really nasty habits (e.g. style) but its easy to train new people in how to do things the right way.
though it should be said that it requires much more day-to-day intervention to deal with the kid, so its an investment
