I struggle to think of another example of an organization of this scale placing such a massive companywide bet on a new direction so far away from their core business or any existing mature market. Any Facebookers - ahem - Meta employees want to share their perspective on how this is all being perceived on the inside?
Nintendo did this in the 60s/70s when they transitioned from trading cards to digital games.

It's even less likely to succeed because Zuckerberg is the world's worst product manager. He didn't even invent Facebook.

Since stealing the idea for it, he's never come up with a successful new product. They've acquired everything that's become mainstream.

What's not clear is this: I thought being in the Metaverse is supposed to be leisure time activity. So what would you do with it at work?
