I always suspected that this might be the reason. 13 is around where numbers start to feel less intuitive, more abstract, especially because it's a prime number, not a composite like even 14. 17 is similarly considered unlucky in some countries like Italy. I think the more primitive parts of our brain can handle manipulating numbers on a practical scale, and 13 is around where it loses the plot, or sensitivity or whatever, because what's important about feeling the exact difference between 13 or 15 things, but the difference between 3 or 5 things could be life and death, and at the same time 13 not being a composite number you also lose sensitivity on the parts of your brain that's preoccupied with stitching piles together. It's a cursed number all right.

2 on the other hand, that number is an emotional bomb. It's hard to believe 2, it's like life itself, astonishing, scary, sexy. No wonder it has such a religious and spiritual significance in so many cultures. What an amazing and blessed number 2 is.

I also like 69, it's juvenile, but it's pictographic use elevates it far above it's abstract neighbors, and unlike 420 there are no cultural or language barriers to stop it. Everyone gets it and it's timeless.
