If we don't adhere to the community guidelines, how will discussion quality remain above average compared to reddit?

My posts get flagged fairly frequently. I might be disappointed for a few milliseconds, but then I choose take it as a feedback signal, pause to reflect, then move on with my life. Not everyone will like and appreciate my opinions, sense of right and wrong, and sense of humor. Such is life.

If an expressed view breaks the guidelines but is remarkably awesome, people will typically step in to rescue and save and it with upvotes over the proceeding hours and days.

Don't let the guidelines control you, they are only guidelines. Let them have the intended effect - guide and inform. On average it's for the best!

I keep a list of flagged gems in my profile as a pathetic form of rebellion for the ones that didn't work out even though I wish they'd been appreciated.
