He doesn't, I probably see more journalists complaining about how bad the metaverse is than people actually using it.
I don't think Roblox Facebook is eating into their funding. I've always been in the camp that it was launched as a distraction when they were dealing with negative publicity.
A lot of people seem to think it's some desperate and genuine attempt at diversifying assets. He knows it's not gonna change the world, Second Life came out when he was 18 lol.
I couldn't imagine someone as smart as him, with all the negative attention honestly thinking he could successfully launch something like this under his tainted brand.
Well I guess you’ll remain mystified, because I’m not about to waste my time linking to all the extremely well-publicized stupid shit he’s said that you will obviously continue to play dumb about.
Im long on Meta stock. Metaverse has potential, its just in infancy. People are shortsighted on tech, and then once something gains adoption, everyone has 20/20 hindsight.
This article is short-sighted. Meta is taking a great risk, but they are creating their own world. Starting something new is risky, but the reward can be great. The bigger risk is to do nothing.
Right now, people don't feel like there's a need, but a need can be manufactured. The manufactured need that always comes to mind is the American breakfast. Why are eggs, bacon, and orange juice so closely linked as a breakfast food? There's absolutely no natural reason. We can have them throughout the day, yet people mostly have them in the morning. It's a manufactured need by businesses and advertising.
I bet that in time, Meta will find a way to get people to use the metaverse. One use that comes to mind is spectator sports. Switching from television to virtual reality could be amazing. And it will be 100% owned by them. Zuckerberg is thinking for the long term. Taking chances and looking ahead is what's made him successful. Thanks to his majority share in Meta, he can take the initiative without anyone stopping him and he's young enough to see it thru.

It looks to me like you don't know what you're talking about.

Only time will tell.
They never found a reason for it to exists.
Metaverse has reasons, sure. Sure you can meet with people. Sure you can play games. Sure the headsets are functional unlike glasses.
But to what extent?
People pull out their phones many times a day and scroll, and Mark benefits almost every time.
So far the Metaverse isn't compelling.
Why spend $400 on a headset for something you might use rarely? And that has no clear benefit above so many alternatives.
