Visual Studio Code has a secret Zen mode (code.visualstudio.com)

For those who don't know, IntelliJ IDEA also has this. (I'm not affiliated with them at all, but I do love their IDEs.)

Personally, I tried it once and was too weirded out — I've lived with the side panels for so long that it feels wrong without them there, minimized and providing a nice little frame for my thoughts.

In what way is this secret? It’s in the View section and not really hidden imo.

Not displaying line numbers makes it a non-starter for me.

I don’t get it. Why would you use this instead of Emacs? Still such poor use of screen real estate. In Emacs I’m in “zen mode” all the time…
