Another box for "things that threaten the music industry" bingo
It threatens the music industry for sure, but I doubt most musicians would turn up their nose at another creative tool. Imagine how fun it would be to dig through a crate of AI-generated samples, or use a couple sentences to describe the perfect drum fill. There's an entire other echelon of artistry we're missing, simply because everyone is fearmongering AI. Pop music has always been a field of engineering, so a robot that can automate the process of writing a catchy tune should destroy your business.
Human musicians learn by listening to other music, including copyrighted music.
What I've heard is "something that sounds like music" not actual music. Music of any genre has a purpose, a direction, a meaning. Otherwise what's the point?
Wouldn't the record label need to the identify the particular copy-write that was violated? The generated music is bound to be very much different then any individual piece.
