Ask HN: What are the success factors for AI development?

Im wondering if anyone could shed some light on the question, what contributes to some companies being successful with making use of AI in their operations, products, whatever and why struggle other (usually big / traditional) companies so much with it. Are there underlying organizational reasons? People? Leadership? Innovation?

Any thoughts?
