How do you share pictures with your friends/family?

I started to abandon all "social" networks in the last couple of years and just created shared albums on iOS with friends that also have Apple devices. It's great, but also tedious. What do you use?

If you are happy with the whole DIY thing perhaps consider nextcloud and hook it up to something like Backblaze or Wasabi?

Could probably do the same with a static site generator, there's some nice image gallery templates around, maybe a few hours of messing around to get it all setup but after that it's just a case of 5 mins updating it now and then.

Had a Nextcloud instance before, but wasn't what I was looking for. It's less for archival family album purposes, but more for sharing pictures of a trip in a way that leaves some room for social interaction with my friends - without being public. Do you use Nextcloud to share pictures in your friend circle and know something I don't?

I share pics using nextcloud links, but not that often, usually just via email for simplicity.

For something with a social element I'm not sure, though open source alternatives to popular platforms usually pop up on the front page.
