There are at least two kinds of femcels, those that think that they are unattractive, and the female dating strategy ones that only want high-value men, and only want to use men, but otherwise hate them.
It make sense given the paradox of choice. These days you can endlessly swipe between potential partners, and even if you find someone it is hard to not keep thinking about potential missed opportunities, after all an even better partner could have been just a swipe away. The 21st century is crazy because abundance is not what our brains are specialized for. The goes for food as well.
There are a class of women who have made their politics their image and men want no part in it. Their dating is usually reserved for people of their percieved ingroup, of which men can constitute a vanishingly small part. Unwilling to date outside that group is the biggest issue, with their ingroup signalling to other groups being a secondary hurdle. Hence the recent rise of neo-trad signalling by otherwise non traditional persons (for dating). Its not a new problem, but its current incarnation sure looks weird.
I've seen this [flagged] and then come back twice now. I'm glad people are vouching to bring it back because I think it's a well written and compassionate piece.
The problem with trying to create Femcel communities is that they get deluged with dating requests from millions of men so they all have to live on private sites which slows their growth.

> And so there are women who have trouble getting sex and love. At least with the men they want. And not all of them are ugly.
The incels complain about getting anyone at all, not just the ones they want.
M: Hey, I like you.
F: Get lost, creep...
