A united Arabia was never on the cards in the post Ottoman era - British and French imperial interests would never allow it. Consequent efforts to unify the arab nations created by British / French have also been thwarted, not in the interests of the West to see Arab unity
Seeing what happens now under self rule I’m not too sure it was such a great idea.

You would need longer. Ireland is still suffering from the British mismanagement of the “potato famine”.
Self rule is never "given" it is taken. If it was European powers that had bestowed them independence I dare say it would not be independence at all.

And look at Saudi Arabia today: they are standing up to Biden. Things worked out for them quite well.
