Isn't this basically putting everyone's life at risk? I can't believe this is legal.

Beyond that, definitely awesome though

I presume this tactic will soon be ruled illegal by Nascar, especially if it's going to start happening regularly in future races.

Ok, so the tactic was that the side wall and the car chassis can take the impact so they just went flat out knowing that they could take more speed through the corner than they’d lose due to the drag?

It looks like they never lost control, and the wall is clearly designed to take much harder impacts, so I’m not sure how you make that illegal without saying tight racing near the wall runs the risk of instant disqualification?

"Near the wall" is quite different than "against the wall, intentionally."

And that he hit the back of the car in front of him right before crossing the finish line makes me think he wasn't entirely in control, either.
