I have 12 years experience in full stack web development, I have managed small dev teams and have been a one-man IT department for small startups and non-profits. I believe in focusing on business results and revenue. I worked a lot with marketing departments in conversion tracking, conversion optimisation, A/B testing. I love building, making web applications and creating value.
Looking for a part-time role, ideally 3 days a week. Remote only but willing to travel occasionally.
I am a backend expert, having built and maintained highly available systems for several companies over the last 5 years, in addition to over 20 total years of software development experience.
The ideal engagement at this point would be with a firm that expects to need team-level help and wants to try me out as the lead for that on a smaller initial project.
You will like working with me because I:
* hold your goals as my priorities
* communicate verbosely yet synthesize well
* my rates are reasonable in exchange for the value I deliver
* I guarantee I will get the job done
Concrete examples:
* built realtime stats and the enterprise-wide developer portal for one of the top 3 major US sports leagues (golang/pyspark/docker/azure)
* portfolio management process replatforming for a midsize hedge fund (bespoke->dockerized python aws lambda architecture)
* built a ~50 node, Dockerized, Terraform-deployed distributed system to provide realtime, transformed trade data from crypto exchanges to a Kafka pipeline and data lake (fodder for an analytics platform). Met 5000msec SLA across arbitrarily many exchanges and ticker symbols. Blue-green deployment for complete CICD safety. Cloudwatch metrics proved SLA was met and provided general system oversight.
* built a framework to collapse dozens of singleton ETL programs into one config-driven, simple C# application performing the same functionality at ~80% reduction in maintenance cost year over year.
* built and managed a team of 8 engineers operating against multiple streams of work to meet business needs, with ~12 active projects at a time.

Fees: $7,999 per week. 1/3rd up front, 1/3rd on delivery, 1/3rd on acceptance of work. IP transfers on full payment. Discounts available for longer projects.
Everyone please take this as a beautiful example on how to sell your coding skills (and make sure you can work on wonderful greenfield projects). I'd hire this gentle(wo)man for every single project, without even seeing a resume or having a talk about programming languages. This is how good sales pitches are done.

Hi, I have 15 years of dev experience and I used to run a software agency and I have extensive experience in building custom software mainly in Fintech but also in other domains.
I can build end-to-end product MVPs using Python, Django and TailwindUI. Classic web. No React, No FE framework. Very little Javascript but effective server rendered apps.
I mainly focus on the business case and try to write as little code as possible and keep the stack as simple as possible. The goal is to reduce maintenance costs and technical debt.
You can read my philosophy to FE dev here (the tech I use is a bit different now): https://world.hey.com/nasir/the-modest-frontend-c21aceef
