As someone who detests the prevalence of the automation engineer role in the industry, I find the idea of an IDE for automation even more loathsome. Notwithstanding the fact that developers ought to write tests, tests are also code written using the same set of tools you use when writing "code". If the editor you use for writing "code" is insufficient for writing tests, something is really really wrong.

I don't know if you can blame JetBrains because there is definitely a market for this, but they should be careful going too far down appealing to the lowest denominator. At the end of the day, users control the product direction.
