A lot of people will mock this as an out-of-place "me too" feature, but I actually think it's great.

Pitching Signal to people as an alternative to iMessage/WhatsApp/whatever is really hard. But if people actually use the stories feature to share real things from their lives, it can become an alternative to a whole other category of privacy-harming apps.

iMessage doesn't have stories and it seems to be doing just fine...
iMessage is not an optional platform. If you use an iPhone, you have to use it.

Signal needs to compete with that.

Having stories in messaging apps feels wrong to me for some reason, although I can see the appeal of it. It must be exhausting for people who use stories on different platforms, like WhatsApp + Instagram + Snapchat.

At some point we'll need a service that just does that for you (if it doesn't exist already)
