Ask HN: Is hckrnews.com censoring news.ycombinator.com?

9 points by ludos ↗ HN
I recently posted a news article here ( https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=33498916 ). Today i checked my usual news site hckrnews.com , which made me suspect somethings wrong, because the article was not on the list. hckrnews.com (afaik) claims it shows all postings chronologically .

Then i got aware that i also found out that my post is a dupe just after posting. While i am very sure i did not read about this news on hckrnews.com before . I did some research and found out that all articles about news article are unavailable on hckrnews.com .

(also my post)

So it looks to me like hckrnews.com is censoring this news. Please tell me i am wrong.

1) Yes, there does seem like something might be happening here. I also can't find your posting (or the others) on hckrnews.com. I wouldn't assume that "censoring" is the most likely answer, though. If it's indeed missing and supposed to be there, a simple "bug" is probably a more likely answer.

2) hckrnews.com doesn't actually try to show all postings, only those that "have made it onto the Hacker News homepage". I wonder if despite getting quite a few upvotes, it either didn't make the Homepage or was on for such a short time that it wasn't registered. It's trajectory is shown here: https://hnrankings.info/33498916/. Note that "Front" is at the very top of the page, implying it didn't actually reach there.

3) Your title is kind of confusing, and most people don't use hckrnews.com, so I wouldn't be surprised if you don't get a much engagement here. If you can't find a sufficient answer here, you might try contacting the hckrnews.com author and asking. He gives his email address at the bottom of the About page.

Yeah, probably number 2.

edit:

Actually doesnt it depend on the setting ("homepage" vs. "all") ?

No. I don't know how hckrnews picks and chooses what it shows, but it doesn't show _all_ posts. If you look at new in HN you'll see pretty quickly that there are too many posts to show all of them.
Not one of the post you linked made it over the threshold hckrnews indexes. Search works as expected at news.ycombinator.com
That might be the correct explanation. I did not read about that threshold on hckrnews.com while looking up for an explanation.
