Protesilaos Stavrou seems to be facing serious financial troubles and has reached out for help. Prot is most well known on the inter webs for his contributions to Emacs and I’d be surprised if a significant number of people on Hacker News did not know him from that work. I also imagine a good number on HN have benefited directly from his contributions.
