Fun read! I rwally liked the prediction that columnar & compressed storage wi takenoff, make sampled traces less relevant.
My medium term prediction/hope is that eventually we start using traces not just for observabulity, but as the beating heart of a event-sourced system, with spans being thr primary events flowing through.
