Apple restricts AirDrop feature for all iPhones sold in China.
Now in iOS 16.1.1, 'Everyone' option will come with 10 minutes countdown, and then it will automatically change to 'Contacts only' mode.
Some way to share with people around us- unmediated by Big Tech- would be really nice. Android Beam and Apple AirDrop being the only technical offerings, both being closed, is so unfortunate. No innovation & experimentation is permitted, because the protocols are all closed. I'd love so much to see some actual standards develop.
