It appears the science, definitions, and numbers should indicate a recession.
It the USD is the world reserve currency, and it is experiencing the highest inflation in our lifetime (with significant changes to how CPI are calculated). This is also happening while the USD gains strength, blunting inflation in the US.
It is starting to look like the rules used for the last hundred years, governing economic are not applicable at this time.
