The only question is whether we (proponents of gender-nonspecific and plural-nonspecific "they") will beat them (people who misspell "lose" as "loose" — remember, it only takes a simple majority[1] (and a bit of time for people to get used to it) to change the language(!)).
[1]: As we all are undoubtedly aware, the spelling "cancelled" was canceled via this mechanism, one or two decades ago.
The best way to do that would be to create a climate version of Fox News.
Stopping the most powerful country from seesawing between being controlled by full blown climate deniers to just road blocked by them is the single most impactful thing below could do, but he won’t because it may increase his taxes.
Rather than give his factory workers and delivery drivers a better, living wage and working conditions, he'd rather rehabilitate his public image after spending a ton of money going to the moon like a gilded age robber baron.
Amazon is making record profits and is able to deliver tons of money annually to shareholders and Bezos, so I don’t buy that there’s a cashflow problem here.
Revenue $469.822 billion (2021)
Operating income $24.879 billion (2021)
Net income $33.364 billion (2021)
Number of employees U.S.: 950,000 (June 2021)
(($33.364 billion (US dollars))/(950000 people))/(12 months)
$2927 per month per person (US dollars per month per person)
$96.22 per day per person (US dollars per day per person)
$673.5 per week per person (US dollars per week per person)
Can you define your understanding of the term 'razor thin margins'?
Lets not forget, bill gates is also saving world while giving away money. But in reality its another money making scheme with ton of shady dealings in the background.
More recent example Patagonia, also given away to charity to benefit the world, in reality a charity on the paper designed to avoid inheritance tax.
With the recent antics of Elon Musk & this announcement, it makes me reconsider my opinion of Jeff Bezos. I hope this isn't some PR & accounting trickery in the end.
In the end, Bezos won't be a single digit millionaire any time soon. Any sacrifice he makes must be taken into the perspective that he'll still be so fabulously rich that he won't ever be like a normal person again. So this announcement doesn't really move the bar on my opinion of him. He's just a human being who hit it big. At least some good comes of it, but I don't expect the big problems with society to be fixed. At least he's doing what he perceives as the right thing. That's kindof how it works in the USA. Private charity is kind of our thing.
Why doesn’t he instead invest it in treating his workers better so they don’t need charity?
He could easily do more good by embodying positive principles into his company. Care about climate change? Invent reusable shipping packages so you stop sending people trash every day. Switch your fleets to carbon zero fuels. Make your suppliers do the same. If you do they you force your competitors to catch up too. With Amazon leading he has a real chance to change the world in a way that will outlast him.
Milking the capital out at great cost to humans and the environment and then dumping it back over the top is a child’s attempt to do right.
Or worse yet merely the attempt to seem to be doing right.

Not really positive at all, just a PR stunt to dress up a tax dodge.

That cashflow has to come from somewhere.
His wealth is paper money. Paying them more would require giving up ownership of the company.

Fine, or at least OK, but that seems to me the kind of thing that $100,000,000,000.00 isn't enough to move the needle on.
He'll probably have better luck by continuing to build vanity clocks and buy newspapers and sports teams.
