This matches the rules south of the border and is probably the worst thing about expecting a bunch of land wars in Asia to break out in the next 20 years (Iran, Ukraine, Tibet, Korea, Taiwan etc).
When my kid was born in the US, I got the selective service notice and while discussing the downsides of the US citizenship question was very surprised to find out that US green card holders need to sign up for the draft. So keeping a Green card and a different nationality wasn't enough to stay out of it.
Not just that the DACA kids who are in the US right now with no other citizenship rights, need to sign up for Selective service - this is not a recruitment process, it is mandatory to sign up if they want a path to citizenship in the future through marriage or other ways.
I hope it never comes to that, but I wish it was mandatory training like the swiss or singapore, so that my kid will never get called to a battlefield with minimal training only after they run out of experienced troops.
The last man drafted into the US military was born (I think) in 1953, and retired more than fifteen years ago. Senators sometimes make sweeping statements about universal military service, but the Pentagon doesn't really want the size of army it would get even with a Vietnam-scale draft.
As far as I know, the US military has always accepted foreign nationals.

Its like nuclear war. Nukes have only been used twice. So far.
And just like investing, past performance is no guarantee of future results.
So, while I hope to be proven wrong, I'd be surprised if we make it another hundred years without a draft or the nukes counter getting incremented.
